「先日岡崎さんにお会いして、趣味で描かれているという水彩画を拝見させて頂きました。主にアメリカの建築物の絵が多かったのですが、本当に素晴らしく感激しました。水彩画特有の優しい風合いをもった絵で、私も何か描いてほしいと思いました。私は45年ほど剣道をやっていて、アメリカに赴任後も地元ナッシュビルでアメリカ人や日本人、韓国人たちに教えています。また色々なところからお声も掛かるのでそちらの方にも出稽古に行く事があります。実は岡崎さんも剣道をやっておられてそんな関係で知り合いになりました。そういう事で剣道の水彩というのは恐らく無いのではと思い、私の稽古姿を描いてもらうべくお願いしました。
なかなかよい写真がありませんでしたので、ビデオをコマ送りしてよい場面をコピーしてお送りしました。かなり不鮮明なコピーだったのですが、さすがご自身も剣道をやられているだけあって非常に躍動感のあるまた優しい風合いの剣道の水彩画ができました。
先日、私の事務所に届きましたので、早速私の部屋へ飾り米人に観てもらっています。勿論wonderful !! とてもよい絵ありがとうございました。」

"I met Mr. Okazaki the other day, and learned that he paints in water colors as his hobby. When I saw his works, which were mostly architectural paintings, I was very surprised as they were all excellent. His watercolors have a soft touch and I immediately wanted him to paint something for myself too. I have been practicing kendo (or Japanese fencing) for 45 years. I am now teaching kendo to American, Japanese, and Korean people in Nashville where I live and some other places. Mr. Okazaki is a kendo enthusiast too, and that is how we met. I thought a painting of kendo would be a good idea. I did not have a good kendo picture handy, so I took out an image from a video of myself practicing kendo. The picture was somewhat unclear; however, Mr. Okazaki made a wonderful painting out of it! Since he does kendo himself, he captured the breath of kendo so realistically. The painting was wonderful, so gentle yet moving.
I now have the painting on the wall, and I am showing it to all my American co-workers. Thank you very much for your wonderful artwork!"

"Thank you so much for such a beautiful work! Being able to see our house in a form of painting was incredible and the best gift we could ever ask for. We will treasure it for generations and generations.
